mallorys_cameraSince Congress has not yet hammered out the child tax care credit, TaxBwana has delayed its opening till some time in—ulp—February.
That means this awful stretch of present tense will roll on for another couple of weeks. Ugh!!!
It’s particularly awful this year because my own creative process feels so blocked.
I’ve gotta get over this delusion that anything I create should mean anything to anybody except me-eee-eeeeeee.
A return to solipsism!
That should be my new aspiration.

Meanwhile, it was cold & squally yesterday, so I did not tromp.
I did go grocery shopping and noted that few people returned the bright & friendly smile I flash to just about every stranger in every situation as a matter of course.
Life with jowls, thought I to myself. Who wants to be smiled at by someone with jowls?

The current Remunerative Project is immensely dry but not particularly difficult. I am seized with great anger at myself at not polishing it off more quickly, but honest to God, my mind just seizes up around 1,500 words.
I need an adventure!
But what adventures are available to persons with jowls?
Thank God for rabbit holes: Gerald Clarke’s biography of Truman Capote is excellent.
