Interesting article on how Chinese voters came out in force to vote for Curtis Sliwa in the recent NYC mayoral election.

(And, yes, there’s a good chance I would have voted for Sliwa too because he lives in a three-room apartment with 26 cats and because I am finding it increeasingly difficult to take the American two-party, duopolistic system seriously.)

This kind of segues into a longstanding argument I’m having with Ichabod about minorities and the Democratic party.

So how are you feeling about Biden’s ability to negotiate these days?? he texted me a couple of weeks ago.

The ask is never the nut, so I suspect the payload on the $3.5 trillion budget was always intended to be $2 trillion. 😊, I texted back.

Yes, but then there’s the voting rights bill…

Thilly boy. 😊, I texted affectionately. You honestly believe Biden really cares about voting rights? Hispanics (who will be disadvantaged by voting restrictions just as much as Blacks) are turning Republican. Voting rights restrictions _may_ just work out for the Democrats.

Ensued a two-week argument over whether or not Hispanics are really turning Republican, interrupted only when I feebly protested that I was now on Hour 247 of building British farmhouses in The Sims Country Living and that my latest rustic barn could brook no further interruptions.

But the article above more or less confirms my suspicions.

My thought is that immigrant minorities do not like being Bwana-ed to.

And that the Democratic Party is big on Bwana-ing.

What else?

Those items on the monthly To Do list are falling like flies!

Yesterday, I brought the car in for an oil change, new front tires and various routine maintenance thingies that since I know absolutely nothing about cars and would like to keep it that way, I must trust my mechanic about when he tells me they need doing.

I do trust my mechanic, fortunately.

So, when he called me an hour and a half after I dropped the car off to tell me—ulp!—that the car probably needed a complete brake overhaul, I just swollowed and told him to go ahead and do it.

I have this presentiment that this winter is gonna be bad, and I gotta have a car that’s safe in case I have to drive anyone to a hospital in a blizzard.

And anyway, that’s what credit cards are for, right?

Today, I must complete the Stegner Fellowship application and the latest Remunerative Project.

It’s storming outside.

I’ve turned on all the Christmas lights and lit up all the scented candles in the Patrizia-torium.

But my mind is a billion miles and counteless light years away. I’ve been having vivid flashes of one particular party—was it Max's Kansas City? Musta been—where I watched Andy Warhol teeter around the room with Bianca Jagger. Warhol had a very peculiar way of walking that I’ve never seen referenced in any bios. He took these really tiny, little baby steps. Was it because he was always so drugged? Or was it because he didn't want his wig to come flying off his head?
