Had the most interesting conversation with Zhen yesterday who’s plugged into numerous subversive underground Chinese news sources. She tells me that it’s common knowledge throughout China that Covid-19 was developed in a Wuhan laboratory and that furthermore, China is lying through its anthropomorphized teeth about its disease stats.
According to Zhen, so many people are dead throughout Hubei province that the government has constructed huge numbers of crematoriums since mass graves are too easy to view from outer space.
Also according to Zhen, a vaccine already exists in China. The military controls it at the behest of kindly, chuckling Chairman Xi. The Chinese coordinated its bioterrorism campaign with its flight from American bond market such that you now have a practically unprecedented economic meltdown in which both the stock market and bonds are cratering.
Zhen says Trump is the perfect American President from China’s point of view because he’s so, so easy to play! His buttons are all lined up his forehead; they twinkle, Press Here! And the Chinese press, and Trump performs for them, doing exactly what they want him to do!
Do I believe Zhen?
Well, let’s just say that I don’t not believe Zhen.
Anything is possible right now because nothing I am being told makes any sense.
For example: Sheltering in place does not reduce the threat of the disease in the slightest. It merely prolongs it.
We go back my fight with that doctor 10 days ago when I told him, The question should not be how many people will die if they contract Covid-19. The question should be how much longer those people would have lived had they not contracted Covid-19.
Frankly, I’d much rather be living my life and washing my hands a lot. If I catch it, I catch it. And like I say, don’t waste a ventilator on me, just shoot me up with morphine.
But I do get that if I become infected, I'm a threat to people whose view is less... shall we say sanguine… than my own, and that that would be a Bad Unethical Thing. I’m civic-minded. So I go along with the program.

I got accosted by one of those guys (funny how they're almost always male) when postdoccing (sp?) at UC-Berkeley. He had some Grand New Theory about human origins based on something having to do with chromosomal inversions, and the prof on our floor who studied the topic wasn't in. I mean, I think that guy might have been in his office with the door open ONCE the whole 2 years I was there. So anyway, I had to listen to his crap for like 20 minutes before I managed to get him to STFU and go away.
