Rutger Needs an Agent
Dec. 23rd, 2013 09:45 am
I now know that I'm not one-quarter as hip as I thought I was because Inside Llewyn Davis went straight over my head (and the Coen Bros are the final arbitrators of hip, right?) except for the scenes that Rutger starred in and that one bit of dialogue where someone asks Llewyn in despair, "Do you ever think about the future?" and he says, "You mean jetpacks and dehydrated food? All the time!"
Or words to that effect.

Date: 2013-12-24 11:49 am (UTC)For me it was just a slice 'o life examination of the Village folk scene, just around the time Dylan broke through. One guy trying to make it, trying to be "relevant," and a look at all the obstacles that ensure most people never make it, no matter how talented they may be.
Also an examination of the extraordinary self-centeredness of most "creative" people.
Something about the film (but not the protagonist) appealed to me...
