"The state of California does not go to the IMF for help," German Financial Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said somewhere yesterday.
Oh, baby. They would if they could.
I'm still around. Writing so much in other venues, working fulltime, attempting to parent, cook, walk the dog -- not time to keep up w/my diary. I miss it. A lot. But you do what ya gotta do.
Max dropped his Facebook account. This upset me a great deal -- lot of our communication was chatting on Facebook: I'm a text person, not a phone person.
Else? Finally watching the third season of Skins. Alessandra, please reassure me that Cookie gets his comeupance -- I am not understanding the Effy/Cookie hook-up at-tall (insert Decca vocal inflection.)

Date: 2010-02-16 12:17 pm (UTC)Huh. I wonder, is this some kind of trend? Young people dropping FB as more and more of us old farts climb aboard.
I've been thinking about you, wondering how you are. Write me a letter, bring me up to speed, 'kay?

Date: 2010-02-15 08:12 pm (UTC)the writers bend over backwards to make cookie more dimensional & sympathetic as time goes on. effy's character is what suffers the most from it all, i think, which i hate. though i do still like her episode season 3.
i look forward to when you're able to write more again! i always miss your entries.

Date: 2010-02-16 04:15 pm (UTC)i was actually curious enough about fun sponge's ethnicity to try to figure it out online, but the only thing he claims is being italian. i also found out he originally auditioned for tony s1. shudderrr.
so far, season 4 seems like it's better. season 3 i felt like i wasn't even watching the same show a lot of the time.

Date: 2010-02-17 04:16 pm (UTC)Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head -- Gen Y-ers think that FB has been co-opted by the geezer cohort. Max also expressed great scorn for that other phenomenon -- the gee-this-party--is-boring-but-I'll-lie-about-that-on-FB-and-everyone-who-wasn't-there-will-gnash-their-pearly-whites phenomenon -- but this one, I think, is the bane of all online communities. I remember reading ecstatic writeups of Well parties, and thinking, But wait! I was there! And it didn't happen like that.
Suspect we're in the midst of another computer culture metamorphosis. Search technology has given people the tools to zero in exclusively on content they want, and the kids are using it, ignoring the other tentacles of the great amorphous jellyfish.
Thankyou for the power supply, by the way. I meant to write you an actual, handwritten thank you note. But as happens so often these days, my good intentions fell by the wayside.
