Yes, yes, I have resorted to the wordometer thang -- an attempt to shame myself into greater productivity on the BOOK. Which is my best bet for escaping the current present tense.

My productivity has suffered of late because of the editing job (done today, I hope) and the real job, and my obsession w/minor characters in the Hollywood pantheon and, of course, bad television. Why doesn't Survivor 20 start tomorrow? Why doesn't Mark Burnette invent a neural implant so I can be right on that island with them only, of course, I never have to participate in any of the challenges and I never get voted off?

Well. Obviously Mr. Burnette wants to give me time to finish my book.

i don't think the wordometer is at all a bad idea- whatever works, works!

also- i'm no where near as knowledgeable & structure-ready as you are, but i am still going to try to turn out something this break. i think whatever writing exercises i've done over the past year have strayed more towards character sketches, so i'm trying to break out of that. i'll post a first draft soon and would love anything you have to say about it.
