I've been reading and enjoying your sojourn. You made an obscure reference to the Mohawk Valley -- which seemed odd ... as you were passing through Oklahoma. Where'd that come from?
I've read yr blog too (link through our mutual pal, Mister Masteroftheuniverse) and I am happy to make yr acquaintance. If I made an allusion to the Mohawk Valley in Oklahoma, it was either ignorance or I was typing too fast. This blog is all first draft/primary process stuff. I don't proof it.
I fast forwarded to the Policy Implications in yr link. I do agree that flooding big failing banks with borrowed $$$ was not a wise solution. Since small businesses provide the majority of American jobs, my solution would have focused more on providing support and credit to them though I don't know enough about the existing infrastructure to suggest an intermediary.
I am quite sure the recession is far from over: unemployment may be a lagging indicator, but it doesn't exist in a hermetically sealed bubble. Already we are seeing a second wave of foreclosures whose causes are quite different from the first wave's.
Actually your reference to the economic conditions in the "Mohawk Valley" was entirely accurate -- however, you were off by about 2,000 miles. So I thought we might be neighbors for a moment.
Huh. Well I know that part of NY state a little -- mother-in-law lived just west of there. Always been fascinated by those kingdoms of rust left behind when boom towns go bust.
