Clearly, I'm never going to have time to write at length again. Suffice it to say then:

(1) I am quite ill. No fever but I'm sweating up a storm and it hurts to breath. I caught whatever Robin had last weekend. I hardly ever get sick so this is irksome.

(2) We met Molly -- Max's new girlfriend. I liked her very much though I didn't really get a chance to talk to her. The really striking thing about her though during this briefest of encounters was how much she reminded me of Maya physically. So now I know Max has a physical type -- very blonde, very slender, very petite. In other words the exact opposite of his dark-haired, Amazonian mother. Huh.

(3) I'm not understanding why the news media is pushing the conventions down our throats. Does anybody really care? It's not as though there's any suspense connected with the process. It amused me how zealously the Washington Post and the New York Times hunted down all four of the the people who luv Hillary so much that they'll never vote for the Obamanation and gave them ledes.

If Obama loses it won't be because of Hillary Clinton -- both Hillary & Bill Clinton aquitted themselves admirably in their speechifying. Maybe it will be because of racism. But it will also be because of stupid things like refusing to make his acceptance speech in the convention center and insisting instead upon making it in a sports arena in front of a faux Roman temple. Will Obama come out in a toga tonight? I guess you have your suspense right there.

Its funny, my sister and I are both very tall and have brown eyes and ash blonde hair. Yet, both of her sons, who are towering men, completely favor the little blondes with pink skin and blue eyes.

It's some odd kind of sexual dimorphism.

Ya know, I dated a guy who was a foot taller than me. I had to stand on a saggy sofa to kiss him. It was not all that interesting for me. My favorite men have all been about 1 or 2 inches taller than me. I guess I'm a sorry excuse for a primate.

in women and gender studies 101 today my professor said something about how astounding it was that the best speech of hillary's career was a concession speech - and how that reflects on women as a whole....

Interesting observation.

Does it reflect on women as a whole?

Interesting. Clinton was certainly roundly reviled by the Obamatrons for not giving up the fight sooner.

Did your professor mention the damned if she do, damned if she don't paradox that besets all women? :-)

Why not? Mark these words: never be sure of the woman you love, for there are more snares in her nature than you can ever imagine. Women are neither as good as their admirers maintain nor as bad as their detractors would have them be; their character is merely lack of character. The best of women can momentarily flounder in the mud, just as the worst can unexpectedly rise to great heights of generosity, to the confusion of those who vilify her. Every woman, good or bad, is capable at any moment of the most diabolical thoughts, actions or emotions, as well as the most divine; the purest as well as the most sordid. In spite of all the advances of civilization, woman has remained as she was the day Nature's hand shaped her. She is like a wild animal, faithful or faithless, kindly or cruel, depending on the impulse that rules her. A profound and serious culture is needed to produce moral character. Man, even when he is selfish or wicked, lives by principles; woman only obeys her feelings. Never forget this, and never be sure of the woman you love.

Well, actually McCain just made a brilliant pick for his vice presidential running mate so it's no longer Rich White Men versus Obama. And since I would bet real money that McCain drops dead in office, this might become a way for disenfranchised Hillary supporters to get a woman into office.

I'm going to vote for Obama. But still. Damn, she's hot for a politician!
