I'm a completely superficial human being who'd much rather watch Survivor and read Sarah Bradford's biography of Jackie Kennedy (thank you [livejournal.com profile] bel_ebat!) than watch the Democratic presidential debates.

Bread and circuses! That's what it's about for moi.

However, I did read the post-game analysis. Apparently they asked the big question: can human rights ever trump national security?

Only one candidate answered the question correctly and that's the candidate I've been supporting all along, Bill Richardson.

The conventional wisdom is that he's actually running for vice president.

In other news I spent the day laboring over the website. At 2pm, a vast mantle of fog floated in from the Pacific. My hitherto cheerful mood went pop! and I started thinking about consciousness and death – the former really should be some sort of negation of the latter, don't you think? But it's not…

I think this is about as diagnostic as you can get for Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Little Store sales are way down from last year's although we continue to do very well on weekends and holidays, times when people are actually visiting Monterey.

The problem, then, is that people aren't visiting Monterey.

There's not much I can do about that.

i watched just a short portion of the debates, and did what i do when i'm bored w/ what i hear- that is to fixate on their demeanor and mannerisms.
hilary did that thing she does, which is bare her teeth in this sardonic mask, that predatory look that says to me hannibal lecter. her eyes widen in that sharon stone way that creeps me out.
nothing about it is warm. it's a smile that is liquid nitrogen and wishes it could snap the opponent into peanut brittle pieces. it wonders if the target should be served w/ fava beans and a nice chianti, or just pitched into a dark pit.
then i went back to channel surfing.

I loathe Hillary. I don't know how I'm ever going to bring myself to vote for her, which I'll have to if the Repub candidate is Mussolini -- oops! I mean Giuliani.

i know what you mean. it gives me a headache to think that finally a woman might be a headliner and it turns out to be her. a reverse sophie's voting choice, because i don't like either of them, so who to spare....
