The One Remaining Holy War Worth Fighting
Feb. 5th, 2023 09:54 amAnd it is back up to a balmy 21° this morning.
Supposed to go into the high 40°s later today, which means I will tromp even though I am wayyyyyy outa shape.
###
Naught to report on the purely personal level. It was cold; I cowered in the Patrizia-torium and Remunerated away, though my real attention was focused on Keeping the Winds From Blowing Out the Local Electric Substation Transformer: I did not want the power to go out so I’d have to be in the cold.
From time to time, Neighbor Ed texted me about Oxford commas, which he’d apparently never heard of before yesterday.
It is the one remaining Holy War that’s worth fighting, I told him.
###
A Holy War that’s not worth fighting is the whole Chinese Balloon in the Sky thing.
Pro tip: The Chinese have spy satellites too. Just like we do.
And the US Air Force has spy balloons, too. Just like they do.
These things are constantly flying over sovereign airspace, but most of the time, they fly unnoticed.
I’m no great Biden fan, but this time (as with the Afghanistan troop withdrawal), I felt for him because damned if he did torpedo the thing and damned if he didn’t.
I think he did the proper thing in waiting until debris falling from the sky was unlikely to injure humans or their property.
###
The world is in a very sorry state, and it takes all my energy to ignore it.
Ignoring stuff should be a lot more relaxing, shouldn’t it?
