Ichabod is fine.

I mean, no, he’s not fine, but he’s sick fine, in no danger of being carted off to the Infirmary For Friendless Public Defenders to die alone and neglected, in other words.

When I asked him yesterday whether I should order him food and OJ and Gatorade, he laughed and said he was perfectly capable of ordering his own food and OJ and Gatorade. “But if you want to get me food and OJ and Gatorade, I won’t complain.”

That Ichabod. Always thinking of others!

No, I did not want to.

What I wanted to do was to spend a day slamming doors and being unspeakably rude to people.

So that is what I did.

###

It was another one of those miserable, grey days. Icy rain showers. Dangerous glazed pavements.

In the afternoon, I ventured into deepest, darkest Poughkeepsie to run a few errands.

As always, I find Poughkeepsie deeply mysterious. As in why is it such a shithole?

I did not do a single whit of useful work. Instead, I ruled Tropico—I have set up a military dictatorship on Isla de Ichabod and am having lots of fun making life miserable for the tiny people who live inside my computer.

I also watched several episodes of Yellowstone and liked it very much.

Yellowstone is a paeon to what is now dubbed “toxic masculinity.”

It is currently the most popular show both on TV and streaming media in the U.S.—though you wouldn’t know that if you stuck to Twitter and the Mainstream Media for your daily doses of cultural buzz. You'd think the most popular show was Succession—which literally gets one-tenth of the viewers Yellowstone gets.

Myself, I have a kinda ambivalent relationship with toxic masculinity. No, I don’t like rape culture. But I do kinda like manly men who like to drink beer, play games, and listen to loud rock ‘n’ roll. And who don’t find talking about emotions either entertaining or edifying particularly.

Of course, to the true progressive, all masculinity is toxic masculinity. Testosterone = baaaaaaaaaad.

In this context, one must note that sex—among heterosexuals, at least—is on the downswing. People are just not interested much in having sex anymore—with other people or even with themselves.

And I’m wondering to what degree this trend may be connected with what I see as a massive cultural promotion of gender neutral.

People think they’re making a strong identity statement!

But actually, they’re responding to deep planetary reverberations, Gaia thinking, There are too many humans! Populating must stop! I know! Make them asexual.

But anyway, Yellowstone—I liked it! The actor who plays the youngest son Kayce is kinda hot in an inarticulate, tousled, blond, mumbling sort of way.
