Hideous White Stuff From the Sky Redux

Hideous white stuff from the sky!
No where near as much snow as had been predicted, but then you have to imagine that with the government shutdown, meteorologists at the National Weather Service have been furloughed and the entire place is being run by interns who use ouija boards and tarot cards to make their forecasts.
After it snowed, it sleeted, so everything is covered with half an inch of ice. My car was a veritable crème brûlée when I ventured out to knock snow off it.
This would be a real pain in the ass to shovel, given that the driveway length rivals that of Twelve Oaks in Gone With the Wind. So we’re gonna to pool our resources and hire a professional plow service. Money is a renewable resource; my back is not.
At least in theory.
Else?
Ed back from Providence, so last night we had an impromptu dinner party. I improvised a fabulous casserole out of peppers, tomatoes, beef, and cheese. Used masa as a crust. Masa is the stuff they put inside cornhusks to make tamales.
It was delish, and I was much praised! I do wish I had remembered to write down what I was doing so I’d have some sort of recipe for recreating it at a future date.
I must say, Ed is a fabulous conversationalist.
I won’t have to talk to anyone for a week.
