Not quite.

But… almost.

Yesterday’s irresolvable issue involved the ghost. The ghost kept morphing into Cthulhu. This might actually make the story easier to peddle since one of the obvious markets is YA, and incest, even with a ghost, is a hard sell in the YA market.

But I have my artistic integrity to consider.

In the afternoon, I went off canvassing. On Skunk’s Misery Road! No, really!

It didn’t smell bad at all.

I am thinking that the $50 billion worth of tariffs PLUS escalating inflation PLUS Canadian (and presumably European and Chinese) boycotts of DisneyWorld signal the beginning of the end for President Spanky's reign of terror.

People can do all the virtue signaling they like, but honestly? They vote – or, as is more likely the case, refrain from voting – from their wallets.

Under President Spanky, the stock market and property values have gone steadily up, up, up!

Many of the people who hate him the most own houses and 401ks, so, you know, it’s kind of a double-edged sword.

And even the most idealistic of activists are exhausted by the sheer number of awful things that demand protesting.

But I think that upward economic trajectory is about to change.

Which is a good thing in terms of necessary political change. Although a bad thing in terms of everyday quality of life. (But cheer up: What with those $50 billion worth of tariffs that are going into effect today, you won’t be able to afford to buy all those concrete mixers, milking machines, fishing boats, nuclear reactors, artificial teeth, defibrillators, fire extinguishers, and other Chinese goods you’ve set your heart on anyway.)

The Red Church vultures howled for Bill Maher’s blood when he noted that a recession might be necessary to knock them out of power.

But, of course, he was absolutely right.

Jeff Beals continues to impress me as a political candidate.

I want all political candidates to be like Jeff Beals.

“I was disappointed when Citizen Action decided to endorse Delgado,” I told JB’s field director yesterday.

“I know,” he sighed.

“Why did they do that? Do you know?”

He hesitated for a second, and then he said, “Well. They have certain policy objectives for the candidates they support, but their organization also has certain… representational goals –“

“Say no more,” I said. “I get it.”

Representational goals!

What a great euphemism!
