Meh Dates and Dead Goldfish

I'll say this much for meh dates: They're distracting. I don't really know why that should be since they're no longer the first movement in any sort of mating dance. The great evolutionary pavane! The DNA dosey doe! At 61, those days are far, far behind.

Quick synopsis: We met for coffee. He was nice. Much too nice to caricature here. But he didn't get most of my jokes, let alone finish any of my sentences, and so though our parting was friendly, I hope he has the good sense not to call me again. Going out with him again would be a complete waste of time.

The Online Dating Site hasn't worked out for me all that well. But I have a new strategy. Yes, indeed I do! As soon as I finish answering a requisite number of Stoopid Questions, I get to make up Stoopid Questions of my own!

I figure questions like this are so obscure that nobody who doesn't subscribe to my little psychic cable TV network will have the slightest interest in answering them. Thus they function as an effective selection mechanism, and no, it doesn't actually matter what anyone's answers are.

After I ditched the meh date, I wandered around for a while in the Herricks Community Carnival because there's nothing better for working your existential angst into the full-out frothing at the mouth stage than wandering around in one of those funky little fairs with rides and stands that sell deep-fried Oreos.

Surprisingly, though, I found myself in a terrifically good mood!

I did feel sorry for all those goldfish that are gonna be clogging up Lawn Guyland's many toilets this time tomorrow.

Came home, ate delightful dinner, chatted with delightful housemates. The Meezer has developed quite the cat crush on Allan. Watched a low-budget flick that got really bad reviews but I really, really liked called A Little Help. The dysfunctional mother-son relationship in the movie cut very close to home. Sigh…

Puttered this morning trying to remove an invisible preference file from my ancient Mac that is all that's standing between moi and my current Heart's Desire, but I no longer have any UNIX programming skills whatsoever. Sigh.
