Temperature dropped 20 degrees last night, and is still falling while the wind kicked up to 50 mph. Something called “the lake effect” – warm air blowing in from Lake Erie a hundred or so miles away causes winds to blow and snow to fall. Science so frequently is counter-intuitive. Anything above the single digits is bearable though.

Still blowing hard enough to knock over an Italian cruise ship this morning. I had to walk Milo. Stupid waterfowl, migrating north against the wind. It must be tough to be a bird, with wings instead of hands, completely unable to log on to the Weather Underground and ascertain what ping pong weather conditions will decree next.

The wind scared the livestock. They were up all night meowing. Consequently, I got very little sleep.
