Enchanted Cottage of My Dreams
Mar. 31st, 2011 06:54 amDREAMED I was at Kim and Marybeth’s house – only it wasn’t really their house, it was the most amazing, multi-roomed cottage by the sea and each room was filled with treasures. Only Kim was there. He and Marybeth were moving out and he said I could have the house, and I was thrilled – I had always wanted it. But the man I was living with – Ben? In the dream he was faceless – said it was impractical, that we couldn’t live there. There were cats too, with complex personalities, playing, interacting.
Then suddenly I was in a train. There was some problem with the car – if I drove it to where I wanted to go, I had no way of getting the car back so I had to take the train. I was waiting for Kim to join me, but Kim was late, the train was about to leave. A mutual friend (no one I recognize) was standing on the platform talking to me: Kim was just leaving the house now; he had a horrible, deep, six-inch gash in his upper thigh; he could barely walk. That would necessitate a change in plans. The door to the train was closed so I asked the friend to climb in through the window. He was standing by the window poised to jump into the train car when I awoke.
For a moment after I woke up I was disoriented. I wanted desperately to be back in the dream space.

Beautiful day yesterday but around noon Ben – who has a morbid preoccupation with weather, a trait I incorporated to good effect into the you-almost-got-that-fellowship-suckah story -- texted me to tell me excitedly that a Nor’easter had just formed off the coast of Virginia. Supposed to snow six inches tonight and tomorrow. FUCK.
I’m way behind on work. Sigh.
Reading The Accidental Billionaires, and finding it extremely poorly written.
