No Need For This Complex Anatomy
Mar. 17th, 2011 11:06 amRTT’s Third Place Winning Rap Poem – not one of his better efforts, I’m afraid. Maybe ya had to be there.
Young and gifted
With words prolific
In the poorest of districts
Portrayed by the fake and the mystic
Condemned with our slit wrists
So we hold out our clenched fists
Salvations existence is bleak
For our nation was bred on deceit
So I rebel and strive for peace
As the power hungry prey on the weak
Who live among corruption and have nothing to eat
Humanity inevitably destined to walk the streets
Each and every bias has led us astray
In each and every way
So we sift through disarray
For justice is too often delayed
Dreamt of spreading wings just to fly away
Haunted in the mind with no choice but to stay
In this life that I’m living
Many passions fuel my inflection
We talk but don’t listen
And rebel with our envision
Hope is now missing
So we rhyme to uplift them
Because the stragglers in Egypt give their heart for revolution
It’s just a mental oblivion, we’re left without salvation
Reducing, reducing metaphor to reality
Illusions prone to raw fallacy
When people boost the audacity
The audacity to strive for an honest world
Where the young and the old
Can live out fables untold
Because… because…
Because I rhyme for change
Change just to save the depraved
Speaking with mental plots
Hoping to enlighten thoughts
Patterns, distraught from the once mocked
Ignorant but now taught
Power I brought to the people
Not the evil and deceitful
Ruthless and medieval
No lives are unequal
Keeping my mind in check
So I recollect the defects of respect
Purebred for insanity
Relevant to calamity
No need for this complex anatomy
Thoughts evolved like a single-celled organism
So our minds are molde in this mental cataclysm
These demons have risen
We stress for what we want
Yet not for what we’re missing
I stand aside, the lamb-of-purity, innocence
No matter the tabbies (?) that seek this crumb (?)
