Obligatory Project Runway Update

Project Runway is dragging a bit. I think perhaps because they've combined the characters of last season's Inspired Visionary (Austin Scarlett) and Undeserving Villain (Wendy Pepper) into one character – Santino. We don't really know enough about the other designers to grok their essential archetypal nature and so, now that we're down to the Instructive Moral Parable portion of the show, we're going, Eh?
Take Nick, for example. He's talented, we've seen him as Runway Bridesmaid a couple of times now. But what else do we know about him? Nada! Yeah, yeah, those of us whose adult attention disorder deficit have not rendered us completely incapable of traveling back in time to the second episode (wherein it was revealed that Nick is the scion of some Greek Embassy official) might have found the hidden poignance in his explanation for last night's ensemble – "Paris Hilton! Walking down the beach in Mikanos!" (Muffled sob.) – but that person wasn't me.
We know almost nothing about Daniel. We haven't even figured out if he's straight or gay.
On the other hand, those of us who occasionally take public transportation know way too much about Zulema. We've sat next to her on the bus, we've choked on her perfume, we've been forced to eavesdrop on her loud and boring cell phone conversations. We were very glad that last night was her stop.
It doesn't surprise me that a second rate designer like Michael Kors finds inspiration in a cadaverous hag like Doris Duke (best known for pulling a Norma Desmond on her gay butler, feeding him Viagra & porn so she could ride the pony around that ring just one more time.)
The only designer who's inspiration might have been my own was Andrae. (I'm just a ho for veiled Leonard Cohen references: Showed me where to look among the garbage & the flowers...) His design was clearly the best, and much as I love Daniel – his Nick pep talk! His exit line, "I love you!" (Maybe we do know if he's gay or straight…) – no woman alive could wear that outfit unless she was dressing up for Halloween as Drew Barrymore at the recent Golden Globes.
In other news, my little life continues to be check marks on a staggering To Do list plus I'm obsessively worried about the state of the world. But there's not a single thing I can do about it. I'm thankful for bread and circuses.
