And apparently, I’m never gonna read anything but celebrity biographies & autobiographies from this point on in my life.

Just polished off Anjelica Huston’s autobiography, Watch Me. I actually like Anjelica Huston as an actress, but her autobiography is such an exercise in name-dropping that it’s (unintentionally) comic because the names Huston drops are a checklist of the dinosaurs who stalked the earth in whatever the equivalent of PageSix was back in the Jurassic:

And then I jetted off to Milan with David Bailey. David Bailey, intense & attractive, was the lover of fabulous women like Jean Shrimpton, Donyale Luna, and Penelope Tree. During our coke-fueled, three-day binge, he turned those eyes—deceptively innocent & luminous—to me and said, “We should get married.”
I laughed. “What do you think Jack would say to that?”

“Jack” being Jack Nicholson. For most of her career, Anjelica Huston was most famous for being a neobaby & a celebrity girlfriend.

I’ve always wondered why anyone would want to be famous.

I do get wanting the fabulous wealth part of celebrity, but why does anyone relish the adulation of strangers? I mean, granted: I think everyone in the world should be subscribing to my online diary, but that’s not really me; it’s something I curate.
