It’s All Very Zen & Inscrutable
Jan. 17th, 2024 09:17 amBB—bless his heart—talked me down off the ledge.
Then RTT called & was his usual charming, garrulous self, & Molly-Mabel Cat auditioned to be the Cutest Cat in the World—she does this by flopping down when you pet her, curling up in a ball, and going after her own tail: the feline uroboros—plus Amazon delivered George Plimpton’s oral biography of Truman Capote. (I hate Amazon, & try never to use them. But the book wasn’t available through anyone else. At least, not at this price.)
So, all & all, yesterday didn’t turn out to be too terrible. Though, of course, I was staggering through it on four hours of sleep.
You feel what you feel.
But feelings are really just chemical reactions: Somebody forgot to turn off the GABA neurotransmitters! [Hands on hips, shaking head waggishly.] Again!
Meaning you are your feelings, but at the same time, you aren’t your feelings. It’s all very Zen & inscrutable.

I read this fabulous article about a 93-year-old man who took up rowing when he was (ulp) 73, and now has the body of a 40-year-old! (
rebeccmeister, white courtesy telephone!)
And also, I watched the first episode of True Detective: Season 4. Kinda meh: If I want to watch The Thing, I’ll watch The Thing, and I won’t have to listen to Billie Eilish (who, no doubt because I am old/old/old, I find vaguely irritating.)
But I was much taken with Jodie Foster in the role of the wise, old, codger-y sheriff. Jodie Foster appears to be letting herself age naturally! No fillers. No obvious plastic surgery. (Though I suspect, ages ago when she was young, something was done to her nose.)
Jodie Foster has jowls! We are sisters in jowls!

It is something like 9° Fahrenheit out but sunny & bright.
I will wait till it warms up to 20° before tromping.

Date: 2024-01-17 04:02 pm (UTC)TD S4. The Thing. I saw Hannibal the tv series. Yawn. So many talented writers in the world and they just aren't being utilized. I'm willing to wait a bit more though. And yes, Jodie is wonderful to look at. She looked downright amazing and ripped in that swimming flick.

Date: 2024-01-17 04:25 pm (UTC)Rowing won't get rid of that, of course. Only a Mommy plastic surgery makeover will get rid of that—which I'll never be able to afford unless I win Lotto.
I'm very strong from my legs down, but my arms need work. I dunno. If I thought I'd actually show up with any degree of regularity, at this point, I would join a gym.
TD S4 isn't bad. It's just not great.
(By the way, have you ever watched Dead Like Me, Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller's very first TV show? If you haven't, I think you'd really like it. Great backstory mythology & some excellent performances.)

Date: 2024-01-17 06:35 pm (UTC)Also, last year at the CRASH-B World Indoor Rowing Championship I had the honor of watching and getting to cheer for Dottie Stewart as she set the first-ever world record for a rower over the age of 100.
Life goals. :^)

Wow, go Dottie Stewart!!!!!!~ That's really impressive! Particularly since it sounds like her osteoporosis is severe.
