The Magical, Self-Fulfilling To Do List
Jan. 2nd, 2024 11:16 amSo, maybe the deal with To Do lists is that you only have to write them down for the items to start checking themselves off.

The kiskas are getting along better—

And apparently, I did change their names.
A New Year’s text exchange with their original humans revealed that the black & white kiska was originally “Mabel” while the calico was “Molly.”
Too funny!

Also, Lois Lane finally wrote back.
After I wrote her a final note: Bla, bla, bla. If I did something to offend you, please forgive. And if you’ve had second thoughts about getting a house together, I need to know (obviously), and our friendship will survive. But if you’re ghosting me, our friendship will NOT survive because that’s hurtful. Bla, bla, bla.
Sorry, Lois Lane wrote back, the holidays are bad time for me and I'm just trying to get thru it nothing else wrong just ghosts and family stuff.
I believe her.
Lois Lane had the most ghastly childhood of anyone I’ve ever met—culminating with the time her father shot her dog right in front of her after the dog pulled one of those Homeward Bound things and found his way back to Red Hook after being ditched (by the evil father) in the wilds of Connecticut. This was retaliation: She’d called Child Protective Services on her father after he began sexually molesting her younger sister. (She’d endured her own sexual molestation without doing anything.)
Lois Lane was 12 when she called CPS. She ended up in foster care till she was 18 and then joined the Marines.
Anyway, Lois Lane comes by her flakiness honestly.
And I can certainly understand how it takes every ounce of her resilience to maintain at her high-stress, high-paying, Real Human Job.
When she gets home, she crawls into a hole.

Also, it turns out the Prius has Bluetooth! (But the Bluetooth is set up only to work for phone calls & Siri—not music or audiobooks. Which seems perfectly ridiculous to me. I’m thinking there must be a workaround.)
And the NP got sick! So, the appointment I was not looking forward to today has been rescheduled for next week!
This leaves only passing the IRS certification exam and getting the broken veneer repaired on the current To Do list.
###
What else?
It was grey & overcast yesterday, but it's sunny & sparkly today.
My heart is ever bright when it’s sunny & sparkly.

Date: 2024-01-03 12:40 pm (UTC)In another month or so, I think they will have adapted entirely.
Yeah, I like that I was able to capture that leg-up pose from them both at the same moment! 😀
