mallorys_cameraI ordered $200 worth of makeup yesterday from a vegan, animal-cruelty-free company whose mascara I already own. This mascara does make me look as though I have eyelashes, my unadorned eyelashes being very stubby and colorless at this point in my life. So, I have high hopes for the eyeliners, the eye shadows, and the lipsticks.
I can’t say the purchase made me feel better.
But at least I am trying to make myself feel better.

Shortly I will be toddling out to explore Hackett Hill. Another Poughkeepsie Library-organized expedition. Hackett Hill was once the site of something called New Guinea, a prosperous pre-Civil War community of free formerly enslaved peoples and Blacks. I doubt very much anything interesting (from an archeological point of view) is left, but it’s always nice to have an excuse to go tromping through the woods.
The sky is back to clear blue after two days of weird overcast from the distant but still powerful outer bands of Hurricane Lee.
After that, I have to go out to the garden.
Loraine invited me to dig up a bunch of flowering plants from her garden yesterday to replant in my pollinator garden. I took a bunch of columbines and Japanese anemones and then stuck them in a pail of water since I couldn’t get out yesterday.
Not sure the anemones made it—the leaves and flowers are already looking kinda dead—but the columbines look fine.
Replanting them will involve digging up and rearranging all sorts of flowerbeds in the current pollinator garden.

Sybyl ate an enormous amount of food on her own this morning.
Which made me happy.
Syringe-feeding her is a drag, but I wanted to make sure she was getting a certain number of calories each day. She seems to be recovering from the ear infection. But she is awfully skinny.
I can’t say the purchase made me feel better.
