So, apparently, the open borders between the mythic countries of LJ-landia and Dreamwidthia are now forever closed.

This is the upshot of LJ-landia’s latest Terms of Service Agreement. I refer you to Section 9.2.6: Users may not without the Administration’s special permit, use automatic scripts (bots, crawlers etc.) to collect information from the Service and/or to interact with the Service.

Dreamwidth is my primary journaling site. I jumped to DW as a protest some years back in response to the Russian government’s crackdown on LGBT rights.

But I continued to crosspost because I have pals in both cyberworlds of whom I’m fond and whom I’d hate to lose.

I’m crossposting now by hand.

But, you know.

That’s gonna get old.

i am so annoyed at this whole lj dw problem! i do not want to miss your journal but i'm not sure that i'm ready to move permanently to dw either. i set it just now so i will at least get a notice when you post in my email. your writings are the high point of my mornings!

I have never X-posted...only copy n pasted. LJ is better for posting pictures. I have never figured out how to do that here on DW. That's my only issue with DW. DW does feel "safer".

Dreamwidth actually has a pretty nifty photo uploader:

(1) Log on, navigate to https://www.dreamwidth.org/

(2) See the menu right under the Dreamwidth logo? One of the menu options is "Create"

(3) Under "Create," one of the menu options is "Upload Images"

(4) Clicking "Upload Images" brings you to a page where you can... upload images! 😀. You'll also see hyperlinks for "View all your images" or "Manage your images."

(5) After you've uploaded your image, click "View all your images." This will take you to a page where all your images are catalogued, and you'll have the opportunity to choose the pixel size of the one you want to include in your entry

The LJ scrapbook is a Flash app. It hasn't worked for me for a year or so now.

Thanks for this, I must try it out when I can bring myself to write a blog post again. Or maybe I can go through my old entries and fix broken links.

The last (and perhaps only) time I tried to use DW's system for uploading photos I couldn't get it to work properly, but that was when it was a new feature.

That's what one gets when sub-par IT team meet crazy "let's monetize everything and to hell with users" management. Current LJ owners are blatant example.

I was honestly surprised at DW team's patience while they tried to mend the issue with SUP/Rambler team.

I've always found the DW team to be gracious and accommodating. 😀
