Jam turned out purt-ty okay.
Possibly it could have benefited from a bit more ginger. Mincing ginger is extremely boring, though. But. They do sell pre-minced ginger, and there’s no appreciable difference in taste.
Next time.

Afterwards, I went hiking in Staatsburg. It was the most glorious day in the history of glorious days on this planet:

I was totally exhausted when I got home, so good for nothing except to watch endless episodes of Anthony Bourdain’s very first television foray, A Cook’s Tour. This was very ironic because while I’d been hiking, I’d also been lecturing Ichabod on the phone about how one must never give in to the temptation of watching endless hours of television when one is feeling shiftless.
Bourdain was so charmingly subversive and obnoxious on these early shows!
Today, I must work as soon as I’m finished exercising.
Also, today, I noticed there’s a very long article in The New York Times by a woman writing about her C-section. She even uses the term “birth tale” a couple of times. So, if I’m ever going to do anything with my own Birth Tales manuscript, now is the time, the zeitgeist is primed.
The weird thing is that while I’m dynamite about promoting other people’s work, I suck at promoting my own.
No, this doesn’t signal (cue echo chamber) low self-esteem.
It signals my contempt for supplier-created demand: In a perfect world, people would recognize excellence whenever they saw it and would not need to be led up to the trough and have their heads dunked under the water.
But have you noticed?
This isn’t a perfect world.
So, I’ll also be working on a pitch letter today.
After I exercise.
