Toilet Paper Bunkers

mallorys_cameraUntil we have enough data from testing, there is no end game to "shelter in place" in sight.
Without an end game, "shelter in place" is economically, socially and politically dangerous. It's a fear-driven approach that has NO catalyst whatsoever for the all-clear ever to sound.
We need to know what the timeline looks like. The ONLY way we can do that is with testing data. So, just as important, MORE important than bulking up ventilator production or whatever, is data collection. We need to know what data we’re going to rely upon, how we’re going to get that data, what steps we’re taking to increase testing capacity.
I have a feeling we’re never gonna get that testing data.

Of course, another way of looking at it, I suppose, is that this is Gaia’s revenge. Isolate those destructive, self-involved humans in toilet paper bunkers! Minimize their impact on the planet! Let the swans return to the Venice canals!

On the purely personal level, life is more-or-less okay. I’ve long been in the habit of dividing my life into periods of work blitz (during which I do very little besides generate revenue and watch reality television) and socialization (during which I hang out with friends and interact with the world). So this is like an extended period of work blitz. It’s almost like I’ve been practicing for it.
I’ve been disciplined about routine.
I always get dressed.
I still have work. I was expecting work to dry up, but so far, at least—knock on wood—it hasn’t.
I haven’t been grappling with the Work in Progress, but I’ll start doing that again today.
In the afternoon, I go for a run or a hike through the Vanderbilt Park. Four to six miles.
Flowers are starting to bloom:
Today is the first day of spring!
