Ran into Pat at the post office. “So, do I owe you a groveling apology?” I asked.
She laughed and touched my arm. “No! He can be really annoying. There’ve been plenty of times when I wished that I could stalk off myself.”
So that’s okay.

Also, Ken, the guy who lives across the road, is installing his own septic tank. I don’t know whether to be admiring or appalled. There’s a reason why most of us country livers outsource septic tank installations.
Ken’s kind of an arrogant SOB. Beyond drooling over him whenever he mows the lawn shirtless, I generally avoid Ken. He’s in his 60s, but he literally has the body of a guy in his 30s. He’s quite the exercise nut.

Also, I had quite the heart-stopping moment when the Pervy Mark Halperin story broke.
The name “Mark Halperin” is very like the name “Mark Helprin.”
The former is – or was – MSNBC’s pet Trump apologist; the latter is the author of one of my favorite steampunk novels, A Winter’s Tale.
How did a sensitive fiction writer end up as a conservative talking head and groper? I wondered.

Yesterday, the weather turned beautiful again, and today promises to be just as nice. But a mini-Sandy Storm is forecast for tomorrow – on the fifth anniversary of Sandy. I’m driving to T-burg, and I hope the lashing rains and winds hold off until after I leave.
It won’t be storming in the west.
