I never intend to own another television again in my life.

Nevertheless, I do watch a fair amount of television programming, though. On various platforms.

I like watching complete seasons of TV dramas back to back. My current favorite Game of Thrones is still airing weekly, and I find that somewhat frustrating – I would like to be completely immersed in that alternate reality for an extended period of time.

My favorites are reality shows. I like the really cheesy ones that Bravo does – The Shahs of Sunset, The Real Housewives of… Although eventually even I OD'd on that franchise, had to pick one and limit my viewing to that. (I picked the NY housewives – the Carole Radziwill/John-John Kennedy connection, doncha know.)

My absolute favorite genre is what I suppose one might call the aspirational reality genre. I LUV Project Runway, for example. I'm a longtime Survivor fan.

And my very favorite TV show of all time is So You Think You Can Dance. Which just started its tenth season.

The talent on SYTYCD is pretty high level. Plus I really get suckered into the stories – the girls who grew up on a diet of canned baked beans and whose mothers spent 17 hours a day cleaning other people's houses, just so they could afford dancing lessons for their daughters. The B-boys who started street dancing as a way to kill time while they were hangin' on the corner waiting to hustle dime bags.

I sit there watching and crying my eyes out.

I suppose, despite my best efforts, I am a pretty sentimental person. More or less numb these days in my personal life – with few prospects that that's ever gonna to change – but quick to be moved by the plight of helpless animals and other people's stories.

I loved to dance when I was in my teens and 20s. Some of the best memories I have are the many nights I spent in dance clubs, gliding, twirling, shaking, swooning, till I was so covered with sweat that I literally looked like I'd just climbed out of a swimming pool.

In my next life, I'd like to come back as a dancer. A really stupid dancer. This brain thing hasn't really worked out so great for me.

Oh my you may be my television soul-mate LOL. I am so in love with SYTYCD. I have a VHS (the sole reason I keep my DVD/VCR combo) with every favorite performance including the special guests, Alvin Ailey and the American Ballet Company to name a couple. I was watching season 4 favorites last night, loved Katie and Joshua.

I too love Runway and SYTYCD. But I also watch a ridiculous amount of ' food porn' shows - Top Chef, Masterchef, etc from anywhere I can get it in English. Thank science for streaming UK, Aus, and so on.

Oh, God. We should figure out a way to hook up and go see a show on the road tour together. I'll come down to DC; you come up. I'm absolutely serious.

I love the performances, but I gotta say my favorites are the audition shows. I sit there bawling every time a kid gets a ticket to Vegas -- all those dreams coming true. I as so heartbroken for that kid who didn't understand you can't freestyle during choreography (though he did get a lot of screen time.)

I'm "meh" on contemporary dancing in general. My faves are the B-girls and boys, the jazz dancers and the tappers. I was thrilled that two ballet dancers won last season.

The only food porn I watch is "Top Chef" and I'm not sure I'll keep watching it. Padma is so fucking annoying, I want to climb through the third wall and slam her head against a wall.

In contrast, SYTYCD's Cat Deely is the most charming show host evah!

Yeah Ariana is such a beautiful dancer. I would totally meet up with you to see the tour. No one on my facebook friends list gets it with SYTYCD but every summer I am completely enthralled.

Ditto on Top Chef and Padma, ugh. I am not sure why I don't watch the other food shows that have cropped up over the years.

Nobody I know is in the least bit interested in SYTYCD either, sigh...

I think we should become FB pals. That way when the LJ falls apart (any day now) we can still have our SYTYCD date.

I love to dance, always have since I was a kid. Salsa, Tango, Waltz, whatever, it doesn't matter. What's uncomfortable is when a guy is a better dancer than his wife, and she gets mad at that fact. Everyone knows that the woman is supposed to be the better dancer:)
