Writing is hard.

Not necessarily putting the words down on paper, but plotting the damn thing, particularly if it isn't autobiographical.

If I'm gonna make Mack part of the story then I'm gonna have to include a brief flash of him confronting Madam Wu in that prologue – maybe he tries to steal her cat? – and then I'm gonna have to make Madam Wu's cat a plot point.

Also, he's the obvious character to kill off halfway through story.

Three fucking POV characters…

Lots of stuff percolating under the surface, but must stay the course in terms of revenue-generating activities. I have what I suppose you could call crushes on three different people right now, but they're each problematic in their own way – one because of geographical distance, one because the guy is at heart humorless and politically correct – both things at odds with who I am, and one because… well. Just because.

Is it better to have crushes than to feel nothing at all?

Not really.

What I'd really like is to be five years into a good marriage/partnership/relationship/whatever. Past the tension point. Past the heady point where you think with your crotch and every stupid song on the radio is exploring some new amazing aspect of your connection with him-m-m-m-m! I want access to my own thoughts, and that's impossible when you're obsessed with someone else.
