I think the term is becoming more gender-neutral. It's not always derogatory, and I've heard lots of men called sluts. We need to distinguish between people-who-have-a-lot-of-sex, on the one hand, and people-who-have-a-lot-of-sex-because-they-hate-themselves, on the other.

Strange. When I was a young man, sluttishness was one of my main pre-requisets for female friendship.:-P

Apparently, not only has sexually gotten less progressive, but young men are no longer interested in getting laid. Must be all the internet porn.
