You bet Bill Clinton would like to encourage his old buddy Al Gore to run for President.

Hillary would wipe Gore out in any primary (although ultimately she's unelectable -- not true of Gore), but Gore's candidacy would knock Obama out of the water.

I'd be satisfied with any of them!

It would be very hard for me to vote for Hillary. I might do it (if the alternative was, say, Jeb Bush.) But it would be hard.

I'm still holding out hope that Al Gore will be our next leader...which should have happened 8 years ago, but late is better than never.

Why would Hillary wipe Gore out in a primary? He polls well among Democrats, and that's without indicating he might actually run.

Even if he doesn't win the Nobel this fall, there's going to be a lot of serious talk about why he should, and that can't hurt his chances.

Then again, his ass is enormous.

Also, about electability: I agree wholeheartedly that Gore, and even Obama, are more electable than Senator Clinton. But will that be a factor in the primary, too? It was in the spring of 2004; the only thing able to stop Dean was Kerry's claim that he was more electable.

We all know how that turned out. But did we learn our lesson there? Or will we once again go with whoever seems most electable in the general?

Why do you think HC is "unelectable?" I don't think she'll be able to win the D-party's primary, but if she did, I could see her walking away with the white house.

Why would Hillary wipe Gore out in a primary?

She can raise more money. Money buys votes -- or at least buys the advertising and craft services buffets for the press bus that determine determine votes.

Then again, his ass is enormous.

Yeah, he certainly let himself go once that public eye was looking elsewhere, didn't he? :-)

But will that be a factor in the primary

God, I hope so.

Well, take me for example. I hate Hillary. I have no reason to hate Hillary -- well, other than the fact that she sat on the board of directors for what I consider to be the two most corrupt corporations in America (outside the oil profiteeers), WalMart & Tyson Chicken, profiting handsomely from the association. Have a look at the labor practices of these two corporations some time. Oppressive, no? For Hillary Clinton to position herself as a populist candidate... Well. I start to sputter and foam.

But I will allow that my dislike of her is unreasonable. But it's there and it's deep and it's not going anywhere.

And I'd have a hard time voting for her unless the opposition was really repugnant.

Whoops! Point being I suspect there are an awful lot of voters with this same, mostly irrational antipathy towards H. Clinton. We just won't vote for her.

I can understand your feelings. I also deplore WalMart and never walk into one - unless I'm visiting my daughter in New Mexico. Then I have to because, in the 'three corners' reservation area she lives, it's the only place she can afford to grocery shop. heh.
Don't know much about Tyson Chicken - never touched their product, but I trust your word regarding their practices.

To play devil's (HC) advocate, I wonder what role she took in those BoD meetings. She is from Arkansas, and I think that those are the only two big employee-based corps Arkansas has.

Truth is, I didn't even know she was associated with either. When her husband was governor? How did she 'profit handsomely' from the association? Directors are not usually paid for their participation. I don't expect you to answer these questions, my friend. Just musing here... and they will be questions I'll seek the answers to myself, since I want to give her a fair shot at my vote.

But again, I don't think she'll make it that far.
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated - truly.
