Spielberg's Disclosure Day isn't the worst movie ever made, but it makes the Honorable Mentions list.

Not about space aliens at all.

No, it's about Two Doughty Individuals who want to leak alien contact files and the eeeeevil CEO who is trying to stop them using mental telepathy (via technology supposedly stolen from the aliens, but really magic) Lots of car chases, train crashes, and (particularly lame plot device) invisible fire trucks.

At the very end, after two and a half hours, there is an alien who looks a lot like what ET would have looked like had he spent 50 years eating wayyyy too many Reese's pieces in the zero gravity of his home planet.

A really baaaaaaaaad movie.

But the theater was so air-conditioned that I actually shivered a bit, which was an interesting experience on a 90°-plus day.

In other news, I remain sad, sad, SAD with seemingly no way to shake the sadness.

Black Chicken's demise shattered my bravado. I'm finding it impossible to think—I must have rearranged the commas in a single Work in Progress paragraph 50 times yesterday. My mind is utter mush.

I absolutely know it is this place, this specific set of circumstances, that is making me feel this way. But what I can't shake is this sense that I put myself in this set of circumstances or, at least, allowed myself to passively fall into them, so in that way, I'm responsible, too. I did not exercise the necessary degree of caution.

When I'm in this headspace, I always feel so repulsive! Like there is some magnetic force inside of me actively pushing people away. The opposite of charisma.

On the plus side: Temps have dropped to the low 70°s, and it is sunny and gorgeous out. Shortly, I will toddle out to the garden. Finish cardboarding and woodchipping the paths. Plant some more peas.

I actually had my first meal from the garden earlier this week. Two of my bell pepper plants fruited, very odd given that they typically begin fruiting in August. I think the very strange weather we've been having this year—extreme heat alternating with comparative cold—confused the little plants.

Anyway, I chopped one of the green peppers up with lettuce (also grown by me) and a dollop of balsamic vinegar, and it was yummy.
