No More Empathy!

There was another little mini-harvest of chili peppers, but the below-freezing temps had definitely battened the pepper plants. They were all droopy, xylums damaged by the frost.

They’ll come out today.

Many jars of jalapeno jelly are in my future.

Yesterday, I concentrated on the pollinator garden, removing the stalks and roots of the Black-Eyed Susans, which had proliferated at an alarming rate throughout the summer.

Black-Eyed Susans are very pretty and make great cut flowers, plus I am sentimental, which is why I wasn’t ruthless about uprooting them last summer. But I uprooted them all yesterday. Except for one tiny patch. Which will be a big patch come next spring.

Also, I went for a tromp:



At the far end of that meadow, there’s a path that leads down to the river through what remains of the original marshlands in these parts. (Once upon a time, the entire east bank of the Hudson was a marsh for a mile and a half inland. It’s still prone to flooding.)

(I had the wrong shoes on as my hiking boots need a new zipper, and I have been too lazy to bring them to the cobbler.)

Also, completed a fair amount of Remunerative Work, so go me.

The state of the world continues to appall me from the macro all the way down to the micro.

The male asshole who told me, “You sure do like using big words, don’t you?” is a Trump supporter, and much as I hate the Manichean divide currently polarizing this country, I gotta say Trump supporters are dumb as fuckin’ rocks, and I’ve gotta stop empathizing with them.
