The world is going nuts. No, really!

In today’s headlines: California hospitals want nurses sick with COVID to come to work so they can take care of patients—who are sick with COVID!

And OVO Energy, the U.K.’s third-largest energy supplier, suggests that Brits cuddle with their cats as a way of keeping warm as supplies of natural gas dwindle to zero.

Bread and circuses, my friends. Bread and circuses. Although it looks like the bread may be running out.

Meanwhile, in the only really important subset of the universe—namely my life 😀— things are placid. I Remunerated yesterday, but not as much as I should have, which means extra Remuneration should be attempted today to keep on schedule. (Not that I will, of course.)

The TaxBwana stuff is very dry, but there is a certain pleasure in making the numbers come out right.

People who know me casually are frequently surprised to discover I’m good at math and indeed, good at all sorts of quantitative analysis like statistics and the calculation of marginal utility equations.

I guess I present as a flake?

That is where my sympathies lie, of course. In the lovely, loopy land of flakedom!

But, unfortunately, my mind is not flakey in the slightest. It’s a highly tuned, precisely calibrated investigative engine.

Meanwhile, it’s bright and sunny out, but the thermometer is reading 9° and it’s not supposed to go above 20° in the next 24 hours. So, it’s unlikely I will be spending any time in the great big world beyond the Patriziatorium at any point today.

I'm morbidly fascinated by what things are off the shelves on any given day at our local supermarket. Today at 4:30 pm, most meat was gone, ALL canned cat food was gone, and there was very little butter.

Oh, the catfood crisis is a BIG one for me.

I finally resorted to ordering off Chewy even though the company is run by the e-e-e-evil Purina Corporation.

My cat has fancy-pants prescription catfood, and I order it via my vet. A couple of times it was hard to get, but I have a fair store of it in my basement right now...
