Nimoy was run over. When I found him—on a road in Oklahoma—his shell had tire marks on it & was broken & bleeding in bits.
I actually superglued his shell back together. My original plan was to rerelease him once his shell had healed. And his shell did heal—but his back legs continued to lag, so I didn't think he would survive in the wild. And continued to keep him as a companion animal.
